To modify link shortening preferences and create a custom domain for short links in our software, follow these steps:
1. Go to the top right corner and select "Workspace Preferences."
2. Scroll down to find the "Link Shortening" section.
3. Here, you'll see an option labeled "Shorten and track all shared links." You can toggle this option to turn off link shortening altogether if you prefer not to use it. Keep in mind that turning this off will disable tracking for various activities, including social media posts and viral sweepstakes.
4. If you want to create a custom domain for short links, check if this option is available based on your plan. If it's locked, reach out to your account manager to unlock it.
5. Once you have access, select the option to create a custom domain.
6. Choose a domain name by using your existing domain with "go" in front of it. Exclude "www" and any other subdomains.
7. After selecting a domain, you'll need to follow additional instructions provided, such as those for setting up DNS records with your domain provider (e.g., GoDaddy).
8. Click on the provided link for detailed instructions on setting up your custom domain with your domain provider.
9. Follow the specific instructions provided by your domain provider to complete the setup process.
10. Once the setup is complete, your custom domain will be activated for use with short links in our software.
By setting up a custom domain for short links, you can enhance branding and improve the appearance of your shortened URLs. Additionally, you can track click-through activity more effectively.
